In 2013 Gisele Bundchen, simply known as “Gisele” in the fashion industry, was named the highest paid supermodel by Forbes, and she held this title for the past 7 years. Before she became a bombshell supermodel, she was just a hot Brazilian teenage girl with a trivial nickname “Olive Oyl” (a reference to cartoon “Popeye’s” wife). [BusinessInsider]
Here are 5 fresh faces in the fashion industry that will also be famous.
1. Malaika Firth (UK, born in Kenya)
Malaika is probably the most popular on our list. Born in Kenya, Malaika moved from her home country at the age of 7, and is now based in the UK. Glamour, Lucky, Vogue, ELLE and many other fashion magazines named her as one of the fresh faces to watch in 2013 and also in 2014.
She was the first black model that Prada has cast since they used Naomi Campbell in their advertisement in 1994.
At 19 years old, she already modeled for Burberry and Asos as well as was featured in indie magazines such as i-D, Roller Coaster and Tank. She looks so adorable in her Backstage video at Stella Mccartney.
2. Soo Joo Park (South Korea)
Soo Joo Park is already on The Hot List of Models.com.
Outside her modeling job, she is a down-to-earth girl, keeps her own blog, and has an off-the charts Instagram.
3. Maria Borges
Born in Angola, based in the UK, Borges already worked for Givenchy, Marc Jacobs, Tom Ford and many other designers. She refers to Riccardo Tisci, the creative director of Givenchy, as her ‘godfather’. In 2013, Forbes Africa Magazine released the list for the top African models and topping that list was Maria Borges.
In her interview with Fashionista, Borges said that she is a big fan of Naomi Campbell and wants to be as successful as her, but takes her modeling career slowly, one step at a time.
4. Sabrina Ioffreda
Born in Acassuso, Argentina, 5’10.5” tall Sabrina Ioffreda was discovered at the age of 16.
In 2014, she opened the runway show for Tom Ford’s Fall 2014 Collection.
Here is another great shot of Sabrina posing in Numéro 155 Féline
5. Holly Rose Emery
According to Stuff, this girl from New Zealand turned from a chubby duckling into a swan in just a few years. Due to her desire to get on the school’s netball team, she lost a tremendous amount of weight. Next thing you know, she is being touted as the next big thing in modeling.
In her recent interview with i-D Vice , she talks about life in New Zealand and her future plans to become a novel writer.
