Historically, its easy to say that the best job in fashion is a model. Models are paid to fly to exotic locations to attend various functions and dinners and events, try on fabulous garments with stylish accessories, meet and mingle with the latest designers and walk around in some of the most publicly lauded events in human history.
Millions of people consider being called a model to be the utmost complete and children and adults alike starve themselves to embody these svelte and picturesque bodies.It should come as a distinct surprise then that the fashion community is rarely ever ecstatic about a model, other than for his or her looks. For the real trendsetters and Avant Garde of fashion, the sister industries of music and film hold a brighter spotlight for couturiers and clothiers. After all, not everyone reads fashion magazines, no matter how large they are, but everyone watches some sort of regular televised programming.
Rihanna is a perfect example of how the sister industries can steal the spotlight. Although technically regarded as a model and un-exclusively linked to several top modeling agencies, Rihanna's musical career is what has catapulted her to the top of her plateau. Tom Ford regards Rihanna as more influential than Anna Wintour and the Bajan beauty has graced the covers of over 45 different magazines internationally, including top publications such as Vogue, W Magazine, Marie Claire and Harper's Bazaar.

In fact, Rihanna has an international appeal that allows her to pose nude for Esquire in America and Lui in France, again on V Magazine and hang on on the cover of Vogue in Arabia, Belgium, Indonesia and India.
In comparison, Gisele Bunchen, the Brazilian Bombshell and 2013's highest paid model has only appeared on about 40 magazine covers, including quite a few spanish titles. Her range of work is more diverse and indeed her relationship with Elle is truly international ( everywhere from Brazil to Turkey to Indonesia and back ). However, her whole career has been in modeling, a big differentiation from those who are not.
