It was an ironic twist that the famous french label Dior held its 2015 Cruise Collection show in none other than the Brooklyn Navy Yards, which is slowly but surely becoming a hub of fashion, entertainment and culture after a long history as a large industrial complex. Typical of Dior was the strong slim suits, fierce lapels and solid lines but the wider collection featured a variety of floral and abstract patterns.
Patterns and odd fabric combinations seemed to be the norm for this collection. While many have commentary about the fashion on display, it was a unique experience for many and hopefully a sign of more to come in terms of this emerging fashion destination. Raf Simons, the designer for the collection stated "America is a constant inspiration for me. The pop culture, the energy, the fluidity... there is just something so alive here." Maybe a few sights and sounds can recreate the meaning behind that expression.Celebrities flooded the event, brought over in Dior-branded NYC Water Taxis. For those less initiated, Rihanna was in attendance, sans-Instagram, along with Maggie Gyllenhaal, Chrisitian Louboutin himself made an attendance, Allison Williams, Hanneli Mustaparta and several others packed the house. Some A-listers and some ready to move up the social ladder.
There were too many great styles from the most "commercial of collections" (cruise season is late November through December). Mine is below. What was yours?

Many accessories from Dior's traditional and cruise collections were showcased on the runway. What's not to love?
While Rihanna's Instagram is missing, there is no shortage of images of her at the event.
Ursula Damini of Robb Report Magazine posted yet another of my favorite looks of the show ( talking as though I was there ).
Now that you are all pumped up about Christian Dior's 2015 Cruise Collection, here's a summary video fo the looks during the event and the amazing production that was. Here's to hoping other luxury brands follow suit and create more incredible events in landmark local venues.
Of course, for more complete coverage of the event, be sure to checkout Dior's Website, featuring exclusive video content and commentary from the event as well as celebrity reactions and a behind the scenes look at how this enormous show was put together.
